| On the 4th of December Jason & Gavin travelled to Wellington to attend afternoon tea with Prime Minister John Key being the prize that was successfully auctioned for at the Grace Yeats Charity dinner earlier last year. In the group that travelled from the Wairarapa along with Jason & Gavin were Jason's partner Fiona & two children, Holly & Paige, Trevor Nickson & Adam Philps. Before meeting with John Key the group was invited to attend the question & answer time in the debating chamber which was a great opportunity to see Parliament in action. Just happened to be the day that NZ First announced the suspension of one of their sitting members by Winston Peters which caused a bit of an uproar in the debating chamber. The afternoon tea was conducted in the Prime Ministers office along with the official photograph time. John Key showed himself to be a relaxed individual who appeared to be genuinely interested in hearing about the Wairarapa & the business environment being encountered in the area. Question topics ranged from unemployment, to small business incentives, to youth crime. A very informative afternoon & enjoyed by all those that attended. |
